Hello Dennis,

I heard about this originally from a native Palauan divemaster aboard the Aggressor. Here is one recount of the story from someone who was in Palau but not directly involved.

http://www.diveatlas.com/travel/palau2.asp

I just reread my post and I appologize for using the word "had" as in the "divemaster had" to go to 200 feet to help someone. I am not sure what I was thinking using the english language in such a loose, frankly incorrect, fashion. It is amazing how helpful the members of this site have been since my original post two days ago with such things. What I should have said is simply that someone "DID" descend. Thank again for helping me with this and I do appologize. Good catch!

By the way the incident happened on (there I go again, they weren't "on" the liveaboard they were actually "in" the water) the liveaboard the "Palau Sport," which I believe, but am not 100% sure, is still operating in Palau.

Have a good one.
Paul
