I'm booked for a week on the Palau Aggressor in September 07. Any suggestions or comments on pre-cruise hotel for one night? Will the Aggressor crew pick you up at the hotel for boarding on the first night?

Any comments or info re: this trip would be welcomed.

Thanks:)

they will pick you up about 5pm sunday from your hotel. The hotels will pick you up at the airport the night before.

You can stay at PPR and hang out at the beach all day sunday or stay at a West Plaza hotel, they don't have beaches but are much cheaper

I'd recommend the DW Motel. The PPR is so expensive compared to the DW Motel. DW motel for 2 people in a twin room is $55 a night. It's cheaper if you require a single. It is by the Senior Center and is extremely quiet. It is within easy walking distance from the Rock Island Cafe. The Rock Island Cafe has inexpensive good food and next door is internet access in case you want to check your email beore departing. They provide airport transport for free. My husband & I stayed there for two weeks in Feb of 06. We did a land based diving operation locally. The housekeeping (Fayley, Boybo & Maria -- all were so wonderful & kind) bleach-mopped the floors every day. Our fellow divers who stayed at the PPR encountered roaches daily. Ick! There is also a coin operated laundry at the DW Motel in case you need to do some last minute laundry before boarding.

Thank you for your thoughts and experiences. I am a mid-50's solo female diver, well traveled on my own but somewhat concerned about safety. I like to get checked into my pre-cruise hotel, and then get a good dinner and some wine before turning the lights out.

My flight arrives in Koror at 8 pm local time. So after transfer to any hotel, I am concerned about getting a real dinner that late before heading to bed. I can't sleep on an empty stomach.

The next day is just killing time until being picked up to board the dive boat.

Any further advise?

Thanks,
mjarens

Rock Island Cafe is across the street from the driveway to the DW Motel. it is very safe for a single lady. I'm 40 and walked alone each evening between the Motel to the Rock island Cafe for a quick bite each evening. Also, you get free transport from the DW Motel to and from the airport. Russell (Owner's son) will pick you up. If asked, he'd pick you up a meal. They were 100% nice to their guests.

Thanks for addressing my concerns. I really don't want to pay $250 - $300 for one nights lodging at PPR, but I want to feel secure for the night. I know I will be still be adjusting to the time zone change, so on Saturday night getting a good dinner and a comfortable and safe place to stay is what I'm really looking for. I can veg out all day Sunday until the Aggressor driver picks me up. And if the DW (what does DW stand for???) is within walking distance of food, I'll be in fine shape.

Thanks again,
mjarens

I'd say DW stands for don't worry :-)))
I gave Fayley, Boybo & Maria a big tip at the end of the week and small gifts. They are Philippinos working for a Palauan woman and her large adult son Russell. All always smiled at me. There's no air conditioning but you won't need it now. Go to Tebang's loft shop for some of the best storyboards, and of course also to the jail! Have a great trip.

Thanks for the insider tips. I am still a ways from my trip, but will take your suggestions into consideration during my searching. It's fun to find the right place.
