Greetings! I'm thinking of getting video lights for use with the GoPro HD2. Deciding to get either a PAIR of i-Torch Pro6 (2400 lumens each) or ONE i-Torch Pro7 (5000 lumens). Are 2 x 2400 lumens lights better than one 5000 lumens one? Both set up cost about the same.

Is 5000 lumens too much? Of course I can turn down the power but at least I know I have extra lumens if required.

The advantage of the Pro6 is that it comes with 2 batteries, spare battery for the Pro7 cost over 5 times as much!

But thinking about the long term, when I save enough money, I can add another Pro7, but would one ever need 10,000 lumens?

Thanks!

You must generally not look so much on the lumen rating but considered both lights are from same producer its ok. 2 lights gives a better fill than one and filming wide with Gopro you need that. You will ned to dimm your lights depending on how close you are to the subject and how much natural lights you have. Also with 2 lights you have one backup if one fails.

Avigulf, thanks for your reply. I see that you use two M2500s, do they give you enough light for all situations?

well in some situations (closeups )I wish I could dim them more but all over Im satisfied. But they do not lit far away, only useful 5-6 meters away. Thats the disadvantage with LED floodlights.
They are rated 2500 lumen, but compared to sola1200 I'd say they are about 1500-1600. Solas angle is 60 deg. and xadventurer is 100 deg. So there is a overlap of 20-30 degrees when the lights are mounted straight forward, but of course it depends of how long arms you have. For wideangle its best with long arms on your videorig, for macro short. But as you may know Gopro is not good on macro, althoug you now can get closeup lenses and get ok shots. I havent tried that yet.
There is a thumb rule with lumen\brightness for LED underwater: 5x lumen gives 2x brighter light. You cannot add 4 pcs. highpower leds and just sum the lumen of each to get what the the light gives out in brightness.
