Hi thecovetrix,
I wasn't very sold on the impetigo diagnosis, myself.
If it is a staph-based folliculitis, a two week course on a drug like Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) should prove effective. Do be aware that some individuals have adverse reactions to sulfa drugs, so if hives or any other skin disorder; difficulty breathing; swelling of the face, lips, tongue; sore throat; or fever, chills, body aches or other flu-like symptoms develop, the prescribing physician should be informed at once.
Please keep this forum posted on your progress.
