Does the mask strap touch the ear? How about the snorkel?

J.D. MISLAK:
After dives now my ear is starting to hurt right about where the cauliflowering has occured from previous years of wrestling. Any comments on this?
I'm surprised our MD's haven't responded.
The cauliflowering is all scar tissue right?
I wonder whether it could be fluid build up? I have a couple scars that get puffy after a few days of diving, so I think if you have nerve tissue there you might feel pain sensation.
Just a wild stab.

Upper right part of the ear where the cauliflowering has occurred. Mask does not touch it as i wear my mask OVER my hood. No snorkel. Cauliflowering is basically blood cloting that has not been drained and has hardened. I guess it is scar tissue. It has been getting pretty nasty when i get out of the water. Meaning it hurts pretty bad. It does not hurt normally and after about 1 hour it goes away after the dive....JD

I just heard about the ear cauliflowering thing talking to a woman about her dog!!! They are REMOVING his ear canal. I don't know if you have had anything done to your's since your wrestling days. But I would hightail it to the ENT. You could be making it worse diving and could end up losing your hearing (or ear canal....how would you equalize???)
I would say ENT appointment, no more diving til then. Especially, since it seems to be the diving that triggers the pain. Pain means STOP!

Sounds like your hood may be putting pressure on the spot and reaggrivating it. I presume it's too cold where you dive to not use a hood. Cut an ear hole in your hood so there's no pressure on your ear.

have you called DAN?
