Page load times

Sorry if this has been mentioned but the excessive page loading times I have experienced over the last few days make searching almost impossible.

The page begins to load, the title appears at the top of the browser and the SB banner at the top shows up. I then wait quite a while (timed at 6 minutes and 50 seconds). Haven't noticed a problem with other sites I visit.

3rd world DSL at home that goes through a 3rd world ISP. At work, it's a professional grade E-1 from the US.
Firefox at home, IE at work. Yes.
Any time, lately.

I just ran a search for "flat table" -- it took about 1/2 second, I had the search results page loaded in under 2 sec.
This is in the US, cable connection...
