Hi, I want to go for my Rescue Diver certification but I was wondering about the required CPR and First Aid training. Do you need to be currently certified through Emergency First Response, or can it be through another agency such as the American Heart Association or American Red Cross?

I've always had mine with AHA, no problem for the Rescue Diver class--they accepted my paramedic credentials too.

So long as it is a recognised agency, there should be no problem in the qualification being accepted

The new PADI Rescue Diver Course Instructor Guide lists EFR primary and secondary care training as a prerequisite, but the General Standards and Procedures Guide says proof of current CPR and first aid training may be accepted.

Good for you - Rescue is a great course and you will learn a lot. You need to call the shop and see what they offer. Our dive shop offered and taught the EFR and O2 courses as part of the Rescue course.

Red cross certification is accepted at my LDS for the rescue class.

I had no problem with red cross bring accepted.
