I have my PADI OW, I'm going to sunny Fla in the near future and will do my AOW there (too d*mned cold around here!). I've found a *great* IANTD instructor down there that I want to do my AOW with.

My question is, does PADI accept another agencies AOW as the prereq towards, say, the PADI rescue cert? There are very limited choices around here for dive training, I'd just go ahead and do the PADI AOW if I had to, but the IANTD looks more comprehensive.

The short answer is yes. The long answer (from the PADI Instructor Manual Rescue Diver prerequsites) is:

Be certified as PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

OR

Have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

This is defined as proof of certification beyond entry level (at least two certifications total). These dive
rs must also have proof of 20 or more logged dives documenting experience in deep diving and underwater navigation.

I don't know if you are aware of the fact that IANTD also does Rescue courses.
