Hello all,

I'm pretty new to diving. In fact, my only experience is about half a day in the Florida Keys. It was bad weather and we didn't even get to the reefs.

Anyway... I'm going to be in India for a month and am looking for a good PADI program there. Does anyone know about the Barefoot India program on the Andama islands?

Thank you so much,
Sara

We have been to the west coast of India (Goa) and I can't imagine anyone diving there. The see was a rusty brown. I couldn't see my feet in 3 feet of water.!! We went out on a boat trip and it still wasn,t clear off shore.

Andaman islands are great. Other places nope (as far as I know). Best way find out something is to Google "india diving padi" 285 000 hits. Have a nice trip anyway:D

And wellcome to Scubaboard!

I do not know about barefoot programe however andaman islands is a great place to dive so are the lakhwadeep Islands on the west coast
Goa is also good at this time of the year
Barracuda diving in goa has a very good padi progamme
You can check their website www.barracudadiving.com.

Look in the PADI website for a list of local PADI dive centers. Then you'll have specific names to search for.

I did my Open Water course with barracuda diving and can vouch that they are a very professional and organised outfit. The visibility in Goa is not great and was between 4-6 meters when I was there but the marine life on the wrecks was quuite. They also conduct trips to Netrani Island in Karnataka which I have heard is quite brilliant and hope to go there this May. Another outfit in Goa is Goa Aquatics which is just starting up but looks to be good. www.goaaquatics.com. Hope this helps.

Obviously if you have the option to go to the Andamans or Lakshadweep, take it.
