Hi, I'm heading down to Utila and am planning on getting my open water certification. My question is, if I take the PADI written test online (120 US dollars), will that lower the cost of the in water class once I get to Utila? I've looked on all the instructors websites for the area and they make no reference to this. I really would like to avoid being in a classroom during my vacation, but don't want to spend the extra money.
Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance

Aloha, Johnnywah.

Best of luck to you in your certification. Whether or not it will lower the cost varies by dive shop. So...if you are lucky, you'll get a reduced rate but it is completely up to the dive shop with which you affiliate. At our shop, we do offer a lower rate as there is usually minimal class time if a student does the e-learning, which saves our instructors a bit of time. You'll have to narrow down your search to the shops in the area where you will be and email/call them to find out their policies to find out definitively.

Good luck and happy diving!
