I must tell you all that even with my diveyak "log" diving from a kayak is a blast. We've met a lot of people out at the bouys and we even have a hard-core club right here in Ft. Lauderdale (Kayubas). There are some beautiful areas out there just beyond the reach of most shore divers, and a 'yak will pay for itself in boat dives.

The Diveyak inflates in minutes using the foot or an optional hand pump, and deflates as easily. It's rugged, stable, and portable - they claim it fits under an airline seat, but I haven't tried; certainly any car trunk is doable.

My point is that even with my crummy log we have a lot of fun for less than $500 (plus paddles).

The downside is that it's slow and you have to be careful about when & where you go, but on most days here it's fun to paddle waaaay out and drift dive back in with the 'yak as a dive-flag platform.
