OK, call me stupid, but I can't figure out how to properly put my regulator into my padded bag. If I try to lay the yoke flat, it feels like I'm putting alot of pressure on the hoses. Also, what the frick is this hook for?
PS: My pressure/depth gauge is inside that padded case.

Please help! Pictures would be great! I leave for Jamaica on Sunday!!!

I think you are on the right path. Just make sure the hoses are not too strained....I generally make a rule to not wrap them tighter than a 4" diameter. The clip is probably to put around the regulator to keep it in one area. Is there velcro on the clip on the backside or something? Hope this helps.

this proably won't help you, but might make you feel a little better. I could nver pack a reg with octo, bc inflator and spg into a square bag. Eventually bought a round diverite bag, 14" in diameter and the damn thing pretty much goes in by itself.
enjoy the trip.

diverryan: Thanks for the tip! Yeah, I'm trying to avoid straining them too much. Plus, I can't get the damn yolk to lay flat!

Splitlip: I appreciate the tip, and hindsight is 20-20. It's a brand new bag, so I won't be ditching it anytime soon.

My guess is that the clip is for your second stage to keep it from hitting the ground if you open the bag the wrong way.

I usually put my first stage in a corner with the hoses coming out at 90 degrees along the "bottom" and a "side" when holding the bag up by the handle. This puts the first stage (heaviest) at the bottom.

Where are you going on Jamaica? I just got back 2 weeks ago from Breezes Runaway Bay.

carldarl: Thanks for the tip. We're going to the brand new Riu in Negril. I know everyone says that the diving isn't great in Jamaica, but diving in Jamaica is better than not diving at all!!!! :)

I wouldn't worry about it. Those hoses seem pretty tough so to have them coiled in a regulator bag during the course of a flight probably doesn't amount to much. Has anyone ever had problems with one of these hoses blowing out? I've never seen it

That looks like an Akona bag. I've never packed one, but the yoke will stand a bit proud (BTW nice Abyss!!!) It might be less strain on the zippers to get the yoke near the middle. Your bag will be a bit lumpy, but if you put it in your checked baggage, try to place it somewhere so the lumps won't take a hit from the outside, in case the baggage gorillas go bananas. Try using your BC or wetsuit to pad the reg bag and mask. Before I had a reg bag, I used to put my reg in my BC and put my wetsuit on top of it- no problems with that. I was more afraid of my BC getting punctured. In the big picture, most regs can take a fair amount of abuse- they are more like chunks of brass than fine watches.

I have velcro tabs in my bag and I've never used them. I suppose you could clip spare o-rings or tables in there. My regs are DIN, so they don't bulge out as much.

Have a good trip!
