Yes. But remember, you will have to pay an extra charge to travel with scuba equipment.

Happy Flying!!!

Something I heard on the news today about traveling on airplanes is to NOT lock any checked baggage. The reason for this is because, if for any reason, they want to check the contents of your bag after going through the X-ray machine and the bag is locked, they will just pry it open or cut any locks that you might have on there.

Something to think about.

Isn't flying getting to be real fun?

My better half and I just flew to Atlanta, GA and back, and we must have been the lucky one's. All of our baggage was carry-on, and we didn't have to open them once, nor did we have to go through the random check at the gate. Maybe I should have bought a lotto ticket when we got back home. :D

Should I lock my luggage?

In some cases, the TSA will have to open your baggage as part of the screening process. If your bag is unlocked, then TSA will simply open the bag and screen the bag. However, if the bag is locked and TSA needs to open your bag, then locks may have to be broken. Therefore, TSA suggests that you help prevent the need to break your locks by keeping your bag unlocked. In the near future, TSA will provide seals at the airport for you to use to secure your luggage as an alternative to locking your bag. Until that time, you may want to consider purchasing standard cable ties to secure your bags if it has zippers.

thanks for the link DivingGal:)

What about theft?

It's a fact that stuff gets stolen at airport baggage areas. So now they want us to send our luggage off with only a plastic zip-tie, that they admit is easily cut, to safeguard it? We're supposed to trust those same baggage handlers who have been cutting our locks and slicing into our luggage for ages, to suddenly follow the straight and narrow just because the FSA wants to search it first? I don't think so.

I know it would take alot of $$ (which is why it'll never happen) to reconfigure our airports but they need change things so we go through a line to an X-ray/serurity area to have our luggage cleared before we get to the check-in counter. Passengers could be kept in line from X-ray to check-in so nothing could be added after the X-rays. Heck, we sit around in the waiting area for a couple of hours now so they supposedly can do the same thing in the 'basement' of the airport! I's much rather be there to watch it all then put my padlock on my bag for the rest of the trip.

I have a feeling more people will be pushing those carry-ons to the limits! I know I will....

Don't forget to lie to the airline about whether you have scuba equipment! The answer is no. If a security screener asks the same question the answer is yes!

Dee once bubbled...

Thats how they do it it many Asian Airports, just like hand luggage. Takes about an extra 10 mins, and is so easy, I had actually forgotten about it until you mentioned that DEE.
There is a screening station just before each "Check in counter"
Seems to work like a dream.

Except I always wonder who that guy is
that drives the fuel tanker under the wing of the
plane next to the terminal.

Most of this stuff is to make us feel good.
Maybe after a while it will loosen up before
all of the airlines go bust.
