On Delta and using Amex card. AND another perk of using Amex is it bumps you up on the loading zone your on. We usually make it on zone one.

That's just with the Delta Gold Amex card, though, right? I don't think my Platinum card does that and I'm sure the green card I use when I can't score a free year of Platinum does not.

Note: if you look carefully, you can get a year of Amex Platinum with no fee. That entitles you to a refund of the Global Entry application fee of $100 and some other freebies, such as Sky Club access when you're flying Delta from CZM so you can shower and get liquored up during your layover. That's free money, folks. Just cancel it before the normal fee of $450, about which they're apparently not joking, kicks in.

I am back from Cozumel and here is my experience:
No equipment was lost, stolen, delayed, or damaged.
I travelled with a large, soft duffel (5200 cubic inches) made by BAD bags, and I packed all things scuba into it-including regulator. It weighed 48+ lbs. fully loaded. I also had 2 other duffels to carry on. The large duffel was a bear to lug around. I'd bought a Samsonite compact luggage cart to attach to the large duffel to allow wheeled transport on the ground and it worked fair. It was a pain to attach, and it was not perfectly stable, but at least I was able to wheel the ~50# bag on level ground. I probably will continue to look for alternate luggage strategies.
I landed with this luggage in Cancun, and was taken to the Mayair terminal by the Lomas shuttle. I had not previously arranged my flight out to Cozumel, but Mayair did NOT offer me the local price at the counter. And they DID charge me excess baggage fees. I did not use them on the return leg. I used the ferry to Playa del Carmen/ADO bus to the Cancun airport and that was much cheaper, but took longer, and of course, I had to lug my stuff longer distances.
