The Pacific Chapter of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society will be holding its annual meeting at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Long Beach October 15-17, 2010.

The Diving Medicine Sessions centers on the diving community and their medical issues, including marine animal injuries, ear problems in diving, decompression issues, diving computer risks, and new issues in women divers and younger age divers. Following the Saturday Session, attendees will have a better understanding of how to treat marine animal injuries, ear trauma in diving and they will have updates on the causes of diving injuries, concerns of diving with computers rather than tables, and they will be able to better evaluate divers of all ages, both male and female.

The Scientific Sessions centers on the clinical and medical applications of hyperbaric therapy and wound care in the management of such problems as complicated non-healing wounds, sports injuries, saturation diving, missed gas embolism, and diving injuries. The Friday session will also demonstrate the importance of HBO facility accreditation and show how HBO research can affect the public’s health. Following the Friday Session, attendees will have a better understanding of wound healing using oxygen as well as growth factors, new thoughts on angiogenesis, surgical management of diabetic wounds, new uses for HBO in sports injuries, and how to improve outcomes in osteomyelitis treatment.
