Even with all the glue and prep (and Rock Tape), it’s still significantly more comfortable than marinating in your own urine in a squishy diaper. Yuck. 🤢

I'll take your word for it🤣 To me It looks like gluing a sports cup to my nether region or wearing a diaper.

I guess you get used to the she p? It can't be as bad a it was the 1st time? Or maybe it is?

I’ve only been diving dry for about a year but I am firmly in the pee valve camp even though they aren’t without their issues. I have the light monkey balanced valve and I am strongly considering plugging it and making it unbalanced. I have had two failures of the duck bill valve in less than a year. There’s a little suspense every time I take my suit off as I inspect to see if I had a failure…

Wow that's wild... I've had mine (LM Tinkle) for well over a year and never had any issues in the ~ 75 hours underwater using it. And I am not methodical about flushing it as I should be.

Great... next dive I'm getting piss on myself, I just know it after posting that.

Pro tip, order the service kit and keep it in your save a dive kit. Better yet, if you haven’t changed it yet I would go ahead and do it. It’s cheap and an Easy swap out. Last time it happened on my first dive of the day and I was luckily able to replace the duckbill before the second dive. I was a little stinky but at least dry on the second dive…

I flush mine with 50/50 listerine and water after every use.

I’m a firm believer in using an unbalanced valve. Easier to clean, less parts to fail. I have hundreds of dives on my two unbalanced valves. The only failure I had was not getting the Cath on properly and the Cath came off. I was very early on before I learned how to get the cath on properly. It wasn’t a valve issue, that was a condom Cath issue.

With the unbalanced, you do want to make sure that you prime it (meaning use it) on the surface before splashing. It was never an issue for me because I was ready to pee every time as soon as I plugged in!

These days with all my diving in Florida, I hardly ever dive dry. But when I do, I am fully plumbed!

Just ordered a kit.

Still can't figure why yours is failing... maybe stop pushing so hard:)

All this discussion is further reinforcing my decision to continue diving wet.* All this sounds like way too much hassle and you are essentially going to have to deal with pee anyways.
Im fine locally in my 8 mm wetsuit.

* Dont ask.

I have experience with 2 different balanced p valves and at least a few years on both. I would never in a million years go back to diving wet in cold water. It is stupid easy / simple once you get the hang of it. It adds seconds to a dive but the comfort is 10x that.

I have a buddy that dives wet... he is always complaining his suit smells like piss:)

Agreed. There is a bit of a learning curve but once you are a used to it, it really isn't that much of an issue anymore. I use my She-p on most of my dives. Just love the fact that I can pee when I want and as often as I want. Diapers don't sound like a great alternative to me.

Most men I dive with use catheters, I don't know anyone who uses a diaper actually.
