This is supposed to be an alternative to attaching a pocket directly to the leg of your wet or dry suit, and can be seen here.

http://www.oxycheq.com/Wing_Access.html

Has anyone tried, or seen one in action? I like the fact that it attaches to your harness, and allows you to have one pocket for multiple exposure suits.

Looking at it however, I have some concerns:

Does it stay in place well?

Does it tug on, or squeeze your leg while doing certain kicks?

Does it create a noticeably greater amount of drag as opposed to a standard pocket?

Should I just shut up and get the standard pockets?

Any insights or opinions are welcome

Interesting choice of name for this product. FifthDimension Scuba in Washington has a whole line of products with the X- prefix.

You should have just asked yesterday ;-) I have the one by Dive-Rite, it looks exactly the same so they are probably made by the same company. I find that it does stay in place but the elastic has a tendancy to roll up on me, this may just be due to the size of my leg and the fact that I have to stretch the elastic a bit to get the band to fit. I have actually been thinking of having the taylor I use make a larger one for em so that I do not have this issue. I do like that I can repack the pocket after everything is clean and dry so that it is ready for the next dive. The drag does not seem noticable at all.

Actually Jack, I don't know how long this has been an "X" product, but I know it has been on the oxysite for 6 (or maybe more) months. I think I remember seeing it right around the same time I saw "X-shorts"....but yeah, a wierd thing really.

That is a tad coincidental :54:

I was actually looking at both sites. Fifth-D has the regular pockets, and those slip on two pocket shorts. I thought the X-pocket would be a decent compromise.

The shorts look a bit too bulky and expensive at $90 per pair

Ben- You've been a wealth of information lately. Maybe I should just check with you first all the time - LOL

To me it's not the price or the bulk that would concern me...I'm more upset that they don't come in hot pink as that is the only color they should come in, they're a tad fruity for my taste.

That's too bad. I'm sure that if they came in hot pink I could get a first hand review from Uncle Pug or Mo2vation :D

X-Shorts have been around since at least September and maybe a little earlier. They were certainly in the works way before that time. It took quite some time to get someone to manufacture these. I got mine at the beginning of October. They were not yet advertised when I got them. I would ask MHK when it started as I know he spoke of AG using them some time ago.

btw, I have tried two versions of these pockets that Dive Rite made and disliked both of them. Velcro gets crap in them and eventually doesn't hold well. This is bad for around the leg. For the top of the pockets, it still hold well enough.

I had also used the search feature, and am leaning towards doing what Wendy described here:

Basically, she took a Dive Rite pocket, cut off all the straps, and sewed it right to the wetsuit. It looks nice and tight in the pics she provided.....
