Hello:

Just finished my first dive with a BP wings setup. Its definetely a very sensitive rig. My crotch strap was too short and pulled my ass up once in the water so I'll have to adjust that bacause my back is sore. When I got home I had to drain my Oxycheq wing. Is this normal? (My hose is down tight on the wing).

Thank you.

If you are NOT getting water in your BC you are most likely overweighted. Getting water in is common and the reason you are supposed to rinse it out with fresh water after the diving day is done.

nice wing too!

I just made my first dive today with my OxyCheq wings on a FredT plate. My best description would be INCREDIBLE! If I had known what I was missing, I would have made the switch to the dark side long ago. Me :sappy: over OxyCheq.

bmuise, other than the crotch strap issue, what were your first impressions?

Water in a wing (or BC) is usually an indication that you're holding the inflator dump open and the wing is already empty - you might be underweight. Vainly holding open the dump button waiting for non-existant air to dump just lets water run down inside your inflator hose into your BC. If this is happening because you're having difficulty submerging, try adding a pound or two of weight - or exhaling a bit more while slipping under the surface! Water pressure acts very quickly on the wing to force the air out of it - especially with a bladderless wing - you can probably empty your wing entirely with it on your back just under the water, and the inflator still just above the surface. No need to keep holding the button in as you descend.

Another potential source of getting water in there is if your trying to dump the inflator and you haven't lifted it hard enough. Water will go in the corrigated hose, then wash into the wing when you finally lift it high enough to dump the gas.

Damn...
you nailed that one to a T.
Thats exactly what happened.
Good work, have a great day.
