That back pad is kind of "fluffy" isn't? I can see that being taken off right away. I'm assuming those are velcro strips to fasten the pad?
I dive with a BP/wings now and it doesn't bother me at all. To be honest I have not tried it with a skin or no suit. So far, a 3/2mm is the lightest I've tried.padiscubapro once bubbled...
I think you will like the Pad.. Its makes things confortable and water moves pretty easily through it so you wount have buoyancy issues..
obviously Thermal protection make s a difference, if you are in a thin wetsuit or skin you would feel things easier than wearing heavy undergarments for a drysuit.

The strap pads look kind of nice for that no exposure suit as well. Chris told me the back pad seemed to add about 2# of buoyancy to the rig, but with not much to begin with that probably wouldn't be an issue.
