Just curious if any online company sells an Oxycheq BC package? I like the DSS offerings but am finding the more I read that Oxycheq is a very good competitor to their line as they seem to produce a comparable offering in both price and quality. The nice part with DSS is that you can get a reasonably priced package and they will help you select what is right for you. Does anyone offer a similar customized package for the Oxycheq line? They certainly have the product line to do it, but as of yet haven't really seen a good well priced one. I figured Scuba Toys (with the excellent discount) or Cave Adventurers (with some crazy pricing) would have one and they may if you call, but curious to see how the pricing works out.

FYI, I do know there are differences and I know some people think you can't do any better than one or the other, but after reading a ridiculous number of posts it seems almost a tie between the two with personal preference separating them. Feel free to disagree, but try to answer my main question when you post why A is better than B.

Thanks, Cameron.

There may be Oxycheq packages around but they may be configured by the store. Scuba.com is a dealer...

As to price:

DSS: Large SS backplate, 30# LCD wing and hogarthian harness = $470. (from DSS configurator)
Oycheq: Medium SS backplate, 30# wing and hogarthian harness = $560 (from Oxycheq site)

I also notice that Oxycheq doesn't have a backplate larger the 'medium'. I have no idea what 'medium' means but I typically wear a 'large' in just about everything. This may not be an issue - I don't know.

Scuba.com has the Oxycheq Signature Series Wing with Harness System for $671
Oxycheq Signature Series Wing with Harness System Signature Series Adjustable Harness System with reviews at scuba.com

Yes, there are personal preferences but the big deal is price.

caveadventurers.com has a complete Oxycheq setup (SS BP, 30# Wing, Harness, Cam Bands) for around $450 and that is A la Carte. DSS A la Carte is is over $600 while a similar package from DSS is $500-ish a nice little savings. What I am wondering is does a reseller carry a similar package with a similar discount not just an A la Carte selection?

whatever you chose (parts) I believe scubatoys can get it for you; just give them a call.

Thanks, I planned on giving them a call and seeing what they can do. I am over thinking this a bit, but it has been a good exercise figuring out all the options.

Another place to try on-line is Golem Gear. Good folks to deal with!

Thanks for the info. I had seen Golem Gear referenced before but I was under the assumption it was expensive. They have some really affordable packages.

Before you buy, consider customer service.

Do some homework and read about customer comments and experiences with the vendors you're considering.

When it comes to major scuba purchases, always make sure you're dealing with a vendor and manufacturer who will stand behind their products. Because when something goes wrong, service will mean more to you than the price difference between the products you considered.
