I am about to order an Oxy Cheq wing, but I am not entirely clear on the differences between the standard and Signature series wings. I am an open water diver and prefer not to dive below 55 Degrees F ( in a wetsuit). I would love to get into advanced courses in the future, however for the next two years I will be too poor, thanks to grad school. I was mainly wondering if the advantages of the signature series were necessary for someone who only dives recreationally. I am under the impression that the main difference is a puncture-resistant coating on the bladder. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks for your input!
Chris

The Signature wings have a tougher outer shell, and a replaceable internal bladder of heavy urethane. The Standard wings are a normal bladderless design. Overall dimensions of the 45lb size are almost identical, the 30lb Signature is slightly more compact than the 30lb Standard, they all have the same inflator, etc. If you're just diving recreationally, the standard wings are fine, and are more streamlined when almost empty compared to the Signature wings. OTOH the Signature wings are tough as nails if you treat your gear like crap, or are penetrating wrecks etc on a single tank.

You have a OxyCheq dealer right there in Ohio who can help, Chris at www.covci.com. He's a user on the board.
