I've heard of that technique before, and it sounds like it would be effective. There is just something about using a gas for a dive to 200+ feet that I have never analyzed that makes me nervous. If I ever get mix rated I think I'm going to shell out the 600 or so bucks for an He analyzer, but thats just me....

I guess it's like anything, once you understand it better and have done it a few time you get more comfortable with it.

Helium content isn't as critical as oxygen. If you're within 5% on the He, you're good to go, although getting within 1% is the norm with the stick.
