Where did you dive in the Ottawa area? I used to live near Upper Canada Village - did you go to Brockville?

all good advice, congrats on the cert, but what did you leave at the divesite?

vtown7: we were in Brockville at Centeen Park; we were supposed to go to Blockhouse Island, but it was blocked to traffic the entire weekend due to Riverfest.

cancun mark: On the shore at the dive site, I left my mask, fins & snorkel the first night (doh!), and my rented weights the next day. Lucky for me, the instructors were the last to leave and gathered up all the extra gear. I did, however, notice they were missing, but not until I unpacked everything back home in Ottawa.

I didn't actually lose the contact lens, it only floated partway out. But I always keep a spare set of glasses in my car, so if I ever lose one, at least I can drive home later!

Well, I made it thru my first post-certification dive yesterday evening: a shallow wreck. Its deepest point is only 30 ft., so I figured it was a good first dive for a newbie like me. We drifted downstream toward it, explored for a while, saw some bass; pretty cool all-in-all. Just wish the vis was a bit better. And, I need to work on my buoyancy some more. I guess practice makes perfect. I'm considering a deeper wreck on Sunday, depending on how I feel. I was getting leg cramps by the end of the dive, so my calves are feeling a bit tight today.
