We're making the final preps for our trip (yay!) , so while we were checking in, we noticed that Hawaiian air charges 100.00 PER ITEM - that includes, mask, fins, snorkel, reg, etc... So if we put them in checked luggage, it'll cost more than 800.00!!!! Yikes!!!
Is it better to just rent everything in the islands or is it possible to bring it with us in our carry on?
Tanks again...:)

Have never been charged...have never made a secret of what is in the clearly marked Akona bag. There was another thread about this a while back. I would not worry about it.

HUH? Put your stuff in your bag and travel........ Works well for us.

Just found the other thread. Mahalo!!
We'll pack the suits/fins/masks and carry on the regs and cameras.
No more worries ...:):)

Are you being facetious? It seems clear that this doesn't apply to what's inside your ordinary checked bag that presumably includes your clothes and other items ordinarily carried as personal baggage.

Edit: Ah, you posted your update while I was typing this. Never mind. Enjoy your trip.

Only TSA gets to look inside your checked & carry-on. There is no way for them to know nor anyway for anyone that does see to know what you paid.
