Valve Repair Technician Course

Description: This in-depth workshop covers everything necessary to take dynamic underwater images with your point & shoot digital camera. The workshop will cover topics that range from setup before the dive to maintenance at the end of the trip, and everything in between. Students will learn exposure mode techniques, lighting with external and internal flash, white balance, RAW files dealing with shutter delay, accessory lenses, macro and wide angle photography. This workshop will also be valuable to the D-SLR user who is considering a point & shoot as a second camera system.

You Bought Your Camera – Now What!?

 Description: Bring your camera system to this lecture. You will receive hands-on guidance on how to get the best possible photos from the camera system you own. Class size will be limited so that everyone will get the personal attention that is needed when you say “Where do I find THAT function?”

Topics covered: Batteries, media cards, image size, down loading to a computer, cataloguing your images, care of your housing, understanding menus, setting controls, determining exposure, aiming the strobe, zoom and auxiliary wide-angle lenses, compensating for focus delay and getting the best photos.

The group will be divided into partners for practice drills so if you only have one camera for both of you, that is fine. Bring a fully charged battery and a spare if you have one.

Adobe Photoshop for Underwater Photographers

Description: This workshop investigates the more advanced feature of Adobe Photoshop and how it can greatly improve underwater images. Topics include Adobe Camera RAW, manipulating depth of field, layer adjustments, curve editor, sharpening techniques, selection tools, boosting image resolution, shortcuts, advanced backscatter tools, healing brush, and several burn & dodge techniques. Students will also be shown how to set up a workflow to streamline image editing.

DAN Oxygen Provider

Mastering Underwater Strobes

Description: This workshop will cover strobe exposures for all types of underwater cameras and strobes. It will deal with strobe use for primary lighting and for balanced flash fill, for both film and digital systems, from point and shoot to SLR, TTL and manual. You will learn her award winning creative lighting techniques with single and multiple strobes. The workshop will include two short “Slide” shows and question and answer period. Anyone who brings their strobe will receive a free exposure chart customized for their digital or film camera. We will test any strobe that has a slave function or a Nikonos 5-pin cord attached so that we can flash it to measure its output
