Ya'll should check out www.tetis.ru/forum/index.php ! You know it's when I go to places like this, that I realize just how BAD my Russian is. However... they use names titles like
Дайвер = Diver
Гуру = Guru
Новичок = Newbie

I can't figure out Спец, But Сержик (Sergie) has made reference to our board here: http://www.tetis.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?p=33630#33630

I'll see y'all in a few as I go try and check this out a bit more. Way too cool!

My brain is hurting. The last time I made a serious effort to read Russian was about 25 years ago, and these guys are a lot more colloquial than the textbooks I had then.

It is cool to think that there is this whole crowd of divers over there doing their thing. Makes me want to figure out how to get together.

A guy in my class this week just happens to be from Moscow and says "Спец" means "Specialist". Other then that I have no idea what anything means. LOL

For a really poor translation (but better than my russian):

The reference to this board was:

A giant snorkel

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have seen advertisements somewhere for a device that looks very similar and that essentially is a giant snorkel with a small lung attached. The lung included a small manual pump which was connected via cables to the snorkeler's fins and somehow the swimming motion operated the pump. Thus surface air was compressed and stored in the lung without the need for a tank or compressor.

I cannot be sure that this is the same device and I don't see any cables to the fins, but the lung looks very similar.

Here is the PADI 5-star Training Facility in Moscow that I've been to a few times:

There are some really nice places to dive in Russia, one of them being Lake Baikal. Most of them, however, are challenging to get to...

I think the initiator of that thread is the same person I sent the request for information on that weird equipment we were talking about in this thread. The board was called KWAK, or at least had it in big letters on the landing page.

Bad software translations follow. It does sound like Scubaboard a bit, and a few even have a sense of humor. ;)

KWAK:This was found on the internet.
It's not an aqualung or rebreather. If something with supply of air from above than why such thick and goffered hose?
Anybody ever see such a product?

DAVIS: Yes, it's not an aqualung, not a rebreather, kriolang, and most likely supply of air with. Well anything new that in it is not present, a current here hoses and fastening beautiful and so all as during kind times, a current there still the cylinder reserve was, and here to not see a lot
And the second photo has liked me :)

KWAK:Like as suply of air from a surface. But what for then for this purpose a goffered hose? A breath and an exhalation like on one and tomuzhe to a hose in this plastvassovuju capacity. I understand nothing.

JIM K:For gathering a saliva and avoidance of hyperventilation by increase of concentration

АKYNEHOK: Can at me, certainly, with a head and not everything is all right, but me it seemed, that it is absolutely not respiratory device! Posmotrie, in a mouth at it anything is not present! As though this shtukovina is simply created for navigation... Daa, interestingly...

SERZHIK: At it in a mouth something is...
And this hren is similar to a respiratory bag

DIRECTOR CHAKRY: I know that it!!!!

On underwater photos at it in a mouth zagubnik from transparent silicone, and upward - tolstvyj a goffered hose...

It is the pumping up pump, for " profound shnorkelinga "... Pumps up air with located on surfaces " zabuennogo shnorkelja "...

The system works probably meters up to 3-5òè... type independent shlangovaja

JIM K: Ezhstestvenno...
And the swimming bubble serves for protection against sudden hit of water and gradual poisoning TSO due to smooth increase of its concentration in a bubble because of insufficient ventilation.
And in general a thing class!!!
You swim, TSO (which it is heavier than air) gradually accumulates in a swimming bubble and after a while brjak and you in "damkah"!!!
Speak, death from an asthma the most attractive, causes the most voluptuous feelings

P.S. Inventors it is more terrible and more dangerous than sharks

GOSHA: And can itself motor, which air swings, in this box and costs

KWAK: Director Chakry and Gosha pomoemu you are right.
Very much on it pohoe. If in it obtekatele costs motor with the accumulator which sucks air from above that it explains why upward there is a thick goffered hose.
But there is one more question. Why on a breath / exhalation only 1 hose.
My God what only people will not guess!!!
Interestingly alive nobody saw such product?

BORIS SERGEEV: Yes not, all not so works: at it the strap along the right leg with a loop on stop - straightens a leg and soaks up air from above in the pump of type balshogo a syringe, bends legs-does a breath. The main thing to not get off, and that will sink to devils dog!

SERZHIK: (A clip from our very own Scubaboard!)

BORIS SERGEEV: In-out, I said that

Marc

DIRECTOR CHAKRY: I know that it!!!! (I know what that is)

:lol: I love it when you stump a translation program, especially when it's a simple phrase. (That was about the only phrase I could fully translate when I saw the original thread! Yay, I remembered something!) Obviously it's actually an awesome program, but not infallible.

I'll ask it here too in the hopes of getting some useful answer.

Does anyone know of any programs you can use to generate cyrillic characters on a standard qwerty keyboard? Even a partial symbol transfer with certain characters requiring a multi key input would be welcome.

Guys, next time - don't use the translation programms. Let me know and I'll do it, ok? After all remember - I'm Polish and we were forced to learn Russian at school :wink:
