Okay, so I went on my first multi-dive trip with wet suit (3mil) and ended up with frickin' welts under my armpits!!! And, no, I'm not a big fat guy.

***? Anyone else have this problem?

Just wonderin'...

But that is no fun:D j/k

I dive dry so I have not experienced this but since your body is new to the gear, the first few dives are harderst on it till your body adjust, and since you did a lot of dives in a short period of time I am not surprised. Rubber type materials against skin for extended periods will cause skin irritations.

I even see this on my kids after the come out of the swimming pool from playing on the mats and such.

Was it a good dive trip though?

My daughter experienced this around her neck. Copious amounts of vaseline solved the problem. (Before I get flamed, yes I know it's not good for the neoprene. But, comfort ruled in this case.)

I had it happen to me with a 3 mil. I wisened up and purchased a rash guard before I put the 7 mil farmer john on...it helps a little bit as far as chafing and blistering goes. My armpits still hurt a little afterward, but nothing like before...

Other than a better fitting suit - if the welts are kinda red - scaly - itchy, cortisone creme may help clear up and stop the itch as well.

Are they rubbing/irritation welts or do they look more like hickeys? Sometimes wetsuits are a little baggy in the armpit and back of the knee areas and they can pinch skin as they compress. You should see what a drysuit can do when it gets ahold of you LOL! I looked like someone had beaten me with a whip.
