I found this discription on another web site. Anyone ever dive here or off Apollo Beach for teeth or fossils?
Any other areas with easy access worth trying?

MANASOTA KEY -- (N26ް 57.93ޢ W82ް 23.55ޢ ) in Lee County, is opposite the town of Englewood, N. of Port Charlotte on the West coast of Florida. Enormous numbers of fossilized shark's teeth, including Megalodon teeth, are found here! The diving is good year round, and the beach hunting is excellent, if you don't want to get wet! The beach is off the end of Manasota Beach Road (and the Manasota Bridge), off Hwy. 775, use the landmark of Woodmere as your turning point into the town of Manasota.

I'm a newish diver, I' ve never dove either location but.

Manasota: we rented a house on the gulf a few years ago for vacation. snorkling the trough and walking the weed line I found several horse teeth in nice shape and some well worn Megs. This was the south end near the state park.

Apollo Beach: I've found a few teeth not megs on the beach. Tommorrow I planning on boating out to a spoil island that is supposed to have fossils. If it loooks good I'll find a dive buddy and go back out another day. I would not go out of my way for fossils at Apollo beach venice is way more productive.

I've dived it. Fossiling is OK. It's in Sarasota County, not Lee County.

I've seen that site too, cool site although I think the abundance of 'treasure' is exaggerated in some cases (likely this too).

However, I have been curious about Casperson, and the site(s) around Englewood were recommended to me by a local lady after I gave her some teeth for her children (met them at service park). I may take a day and try them on the next trip down, just to explore a bit; I'll let you know if I do (please do likewise if you make it down that way).

It would be nice to take boat back and forth and check out the bottom profiles with a depthfinder to see if there are any ledges or rough areas.
