Saturday the H2OBelow had a trip to the Oriskany. The ride out was good 1-3s, only a few 3s - Thank goodness. The vis was okay - about 30 feet on the wreck. The water temp was 64 but I had on my new dry suit
and never noticed that it was cold. During the surface interval and the trip home it was sunny and warm plus I was dry
This was my first dive on the Oriskany with my dry suit so I didn't take my camera I just wanted to make sure I didn't turn turtle and float to the surface fins first. I didn't notice any changes to the wreck but I forgot to check my flashlight batteries and they were dead as a doornail so I didn't look inside much. I did the easy swimthroughs where I knew I could see without a light. I did notice a wide variety of fish down deeper on the wreck. Fun to see the kids are growing up.
We had a new toy on board the H2O - a Hollis scooter. Scott - the videographer - was playing with it. I was swimming around all dry - did I mention my new dry suit - and warm and he kept zooming back and forth like superman. I just got up above him to watch. He was having too much fun. Those things are very cool.
Josh had an Advanced class from MBT on board and they all did really well in the water. Josh does a ton of work with students from UWF and they are always comfortable in the water once he gets them to that point.
Scott got some interesting video - oh btw Scott said something about new footage that he just finished so we can get updated dvds from him or the dive shop. He is also working on IPod videos that can be downloaded. This guy is amazing if you get a chance to see any of his work - like video of the Oriskany engine room - take a look. I think his videos sell for less than $20 and they are great for those days when you are forced to stay on land but you want to do some day dreaming of diving.
Also look for those lobster while you're out there. Josh who has a great eye for shovelnose lobster got dinner.
We have a trip to the YDTs today and I'll let you guys know what that is like when we get back.
