hi this is a long shot but did you manage to find out what type of battery fitted your orca pilot?? as i have one but took battery out to get a new one and have lost it !!!!!!!! and i cant put my hands on the instructions the orca web site has been shut down as i said it is a long shot as this is an old post but worth a try!

kind regards from fife , scotland , uk

I just picked up an Orca Pilot Can that was included in a used gauge set. I pulled out the battery and here are the numbers on it:
TL2150, DKF1 07,
Maker - Tadiran,
size 1/2 AA, 3.6V

Guess I'll be in the market for a battery as well. If anyone knows where I can get a copy of some instructions, that would be helpful to me.

hi i have a paper copy in the house somewhere i am just out of hospital after an operation and will have a look might be a few weeks but i will keep you in mind if i find them i will scan and send a copy over to you

Its just a common 3.6 volt battery (1/2AA size) battery, you can sometimes pick them up at department stores in the computer or security departments, or try specialist hardware or security stores etc, or of course the on-line specialist battery stores. Its also quite a popular battery used in backup power for security applications etc.

Its very simple to change as well, basically just remove the cover by unscrewing the 4 little screws and removing the cosmetic cover, you will find a frosted cover with an o-ring, lift it up been carefull not to damage the o-ring, turf out the old battery, put in a new one, clean the o-ring well (if you can get a new one great, but because its an oval shape its not really standard) apply a little silicone grease and put it all back together again in reverse. Be carefull as its a bit fiddly getting the cover on without moving the o-ring but quite straight forward, just needs a little patience - entire job shouldnt take longer than 15 minutes.
