Another great weekend diving the Gulf of Mexico. We started out at Tacky Jacky's in Orange Beach on the Spearit dive boat. We had a new diver, Ren with us on Capt Tim's boat. We dove the 70 ft Bridge rubble first. The vis was good, 40 ft. However, the fish were small. The second dive was on the Allen. I have heard several reports of a huge bull shark on the Allen but he/she chose not to visit with us on Sunday. The vis was better 50-55 ft. We experienced a very strange thermocline situation where the water temp was warmer on the bottom then about 20 ft down. It was strange. Very warm on the top, chilly at 20 ft, then 75 on the bottom. The "Moon" Jellies are still out in force. Hundreds of them all the way up and down. The third and fourth dives were on the 3 mile barge, with new divers. Again only small fish every where we went. We are looking for good BIG fish for the spearfishing shootout on October 21. If anybody knows what happened to the BIG fish, please let me know.
We have an all girl spearfishing team for the Shootout and we are looking to get something on the board! We are also looking for a good name for our team. Any suggestions? Keep it clean!
