I just purchased a Sea and Sea D2 strobe for my Sealife DC 1400. I assumed that all optical connectors are the same, perhaps foolishly -- I don't know. I looked at the Sea and Sea connectors and they have little plugs on the end. Then I looked at the Sealife optical connector and they are just straight little wires. Do I need to cut off one of the plugs, and if so, will it work? Or did I make a huge purchasing mistake?

Sea & Sea makes a universal Strobe Mask Set (Product No.50109), which allows you to connect and plug-in the Sea&Sea optical cable to an underwater housing. Check out Other Accessories | Strobes | Line up | SEA & SEA. The Sea& Sea optical cable is 2.7mm in diameter, which is slightly larger than the SeaLife cable which is 2.2mm in diameter. In other words, cutting off the end of the Sea&Sea cable won’t make it fit the DC1400 optical cable adapter. I hope this info helps. Thank you!!! You answered my question. If I'm reading it correctly, I buy the Mask Set and the Sea and Sea cable. Then it still looks like I have to cut off one end? Or perhaps I'm jumping the gun and the instructions will be clear when I get the pieces.
