You can't go wrong with the Pro QD+ or the Balance. Try them both on and see which one is most comfortable and fits you best. I like the Balance because of the low profile bladder, which streamlines itself, a really innovative and practical design.

The Legend LX is IMHO one of the best regulators available today. The tehnology that went into its development makes it one of the easiest breathing designs on the market, regardless of depth or brathing rate, as proven by numerous performance tests. Although the the guts of the thing are almost identical to the Apeks regs, the body is smaller and lighter which is always a plus.

My personal preference is to avoid air integrated computers. This is because I dive mostly technical wrecks and caves, and I have seen my fair share of problems due to computer failure. Losing my pressure gauge at 240 feet on a wreck or 2000 feet inside a cave is just not an acceptable risk. That aside, the whole line of computers works very well. I personally like the Vyper. Unless you need multiple gasses, which it doesn't sound like you do, that would be my recommendation.

FYI, I am getting 2 Legend LXs and the Vyper for myself through the same program. That's the best thing about being a professional in this industry...

Good luck with your new toys.

I would highly recommend the pro qd+ SL as a BC. This is one of the most comfortable BC's I have ever worn. The integrated weights are great. The BC is very stable no matter what position I am in. The inflator is a bit touchy though the first time I hit the button I pushed a little to hard and the BC inflated like a scared puffer. After that I used a light touch on the controls and was neutral in seconds. As for the sea-quest balance the people I know who use it say it is a great BC.

If you are getting it at a % of cost, and can only do it once. Why not just buy their top of the line on everything. After all, it looks like it'll have to last another 15 years.

Bigger question as to computer is if you want A.I or wrist mount. Overall, the Suunto's appear to be as reliable as anything else on the market. I don't know much about some of the newer downsized units that double as wrist watches but I suspect that there were compromises made to achieve a certain look. As long as your prices are great, why not look at the Vytec? Will do everything most of us ever need to do. As far as BC's-they are all well made. Do you have a preference between back inflate or jacket styles? That will be the first decision you need to make to narrow your choice. Does your discount extend to all Aqualung products? You may want to consider the Apeks regs. You'll find as many fans on this board for them as anything else. Good luck.

I am an Aqualung/SeaQuest fan also. I too get all my gear at a fraction of retail, full warranty.
I have a Legend LX which very well could be the last reg I ever own. It is awesome. Easy to work on, adjust, maintain. You don't ever have to work to breathe, even if you should surpass the recreational diving limit of 130'. 'Nuf said.

My BC is a SeaQuest Pro QD+ Surelock. It too is incredible. Very comfortable, hardly even know it's on. The only drawback I see is that it does take up a bit of room when traveling. But well worth it for the comfort and knowing it's mine. The only BC I think I might replace the QD+ with would be the Pro Unlimited.

I have also used the Cobra and like it a lot. Very easy to use and has the ability to use EAN. The only reason I don't have one is because I was able to get a brand new Cochran Commander fully loaded for $100.

How do you get equipment for a "fraction of the dealer price"? Do tell...
