I recently purchased and started using a Flathead VI and I have no complaints, however I am going to be purchasing two more regs in the next few weeks for my wife and son and I would like to know which of the Apeks regs compares to the Flathead VI as I just found out tha my local LDS carries Apeks now, and they are a little less $$$ than the Zeagle line and was considering purchasing Apeks regs for the wife and son as I understand they are also very nice regs and I migh be able to save some money.
Any feedback on the Apeks regs would be helpfull, also, does anyone else out there dive the Flathead VI??

I own the TX50 & TX40 setup and love them. Great breathing and very easy to service-although they never need it I do it anyway!

If you're going to dive doubles, I would recommend the flathead because of the simplicity of the hose routing. It's just cleaner.

I don't think you can go wrong with any Apeks regs. They just make bullet-proof stuff that breathes very well.

The Apeks TX-100 is very similar to the Zeagle Flat Head VI.

Actually, what I meant to say was the TX100, not the Flat head (they both look alike). I don't know anything about the new Zeagle line.

Sorry for the mixup.

Howdy to ya Double T...

I dive with the Zeagle Tech50D with the swivel Apeks first stage and enjoy the heck out of it. Absolutely no problems so far and works just fine at all the depths I've visited.

I think the TX50 with the DS4 first (non-swivel) will be a very good choice for your wife and son. Especially your son if he inherits your joy for this sport and has a desire to go beyond pure recreational diving.

Also, since you're nearly my neighbor (I'm in Denton) be sure to check out the Texas Section on this board as our little group of Texas Swamp Divers plans on doing lots of stuff this year and we'd love to have you be apart of it.

Dive often and safely!!

The TX100 first stage is my second favorite first stage. I like the DS4 better because all of the ports are the same and it's cheaper too (I just ordered an ATX50/DS4 for $225). Performance and reliabilty wise, they are both as good as it gets.

I have them all -- TX100, DS4, and DST. I'll be trading everything I have for the DS4's.

Good luck.

Mike

Hello,

The flathead is a very nice regulator, you won't go wrong with it. In fact it ranks in the top performers.

If you go to Zeagle.com and/or look at http://zeagle.com/test_fhiv_300.htm
you will see that the new Flathead exceeds the 200' USN requirements at 300 FEET! I have a Flathead and it's a great reg. Very solid! Since their separation Zeagle has gone through all of their regs and improved them even more. JMO

Hello,

This is also the regulator that you can use heliox/trimix thru and is the top performer.

Ed

The Flathead will be my next regulator when I buy. Zeagle has improved their regs since the separation with Apeks and in my opinion are building the best regs on the market at this time. Not the cheapest, just the best. I had the chance to dive them about a week ago and they are a very nice piece of equipment. I was pleasantly suprised.:tree: Bob
