I'm seriously considering a Ladyhawk bc after using one in my training, and am just looking to see if anyone has any thoughts - good or bad - about it.

One of my best divebuddies in Florida will not dive wearing any BC besides her Ladyhawk!! She dives every single weekend and absolutely loves it!!

I've got nearly 200 dives on mine and love it. Only thing is the cheezy pocket, which I've dealt with buy putting on a pocket on the dry suit. :)

My wife loves her LadyHawk so much I can't talk her in to switching to a BP/Wing right now. My neighbor and her daughter both feel the same way about their LadyHawks, and I enjoyed my KnightHawk a long time before switching to a BP/Wing.

Remember not to overinflate the air bladder while you are on the surface and it will float you very comfortably. There isn't much pocket space for storage, but you shouldn't need much anyway. It doesn't pack very flat for travel and it requires some weight to offset buoyancy because it has a lot of inherent buoyancy. In other words, that comfortable padding floats. The air wing is tapered and stays close to your body for good streamlining, and the weight pockets are secure, but easy to release. There are rear trim weight pockets on each side, and the cam band is easy to use and very secure.

If it fits right and you feel comfortable, you will love it for open water, recreational (non-technical) diving purposes. If it weren't for my BP/Wing, I'd still be diving with the KnightHawk.

Hope this helps!

I like mine and agree with most of what realdiver said. I don't think it has that much padding, certainly not compared to the last BC I had - just enough in the right places.

To me the only problem is there's no pocket space, the cheesy dangling and flapping roll down doesn't count. I consider that useful only if I needed to carry something on a one time basis but not for regular storage of things I would like to carry all the time (small slate, light, shears, strobe, mirror, and maybe my rollup snorkel.) I slipped a small pocket on the waist webbing but it's not quite enough so I'm still working the pocket issue. Suit pockets aren't a viable option for me.

I dive with a HP100 and as a result don't use any weights in the back pocket. Everything is packed in the removeable weight pockets. When I use the AL80's I throw 3# into each back pocket.

Damselfish: So you put a small pocket on the waist webbing eh? Interesting idea. What kind of pocket did you use?

As far as the buoyancy of the BC, it's been written up as neutral, but I haven't cared to test the validity of that claim. :)
