There's a small specialist suit inflate first stage regulator. Don't know the brand name; have a feeling its very generic. It has a built-in over pressure valve. It's a good idea to add a button gauge.

I've used one for years but removed it this weekend as it was slightly leaking -- replaced with an Apeks DS4 -- guess it's time to get it serviced (never been done in 7 ish years).

its similar to what I have. (though a bit smaller)

Has anyone used these ??

A pain to fill because of the adapters, annoying to service, and unfortunately you can’t stick a backup reg on it when it fails. Can you post a picture of your setup? Your above description doesn’t reference in which plane you’re describing them.

I don't have a very good shot and its all packed up in a bag at the moment, in hindsight my degrees should have been 45 for the reg and 320 for the tank valve, assuming forward facing is zero north. not much wonder Im a terrible navigator haha

DUI used to sell that regulator as a house branded model. It is a damned good quality little regulator.
I think I still have 6 or so on the shelf.

I am really picky about making things stupid simple because I can be very stupid on occasion.
My suit bottles run vertical valve knobs so I can't mistake it for my diluent valve. Is it necessary, probably not, but I like to remove any possible confusion if I am trying to shut things down quickly.

Yep I think that what I have concluded from your and @grantctobin post i.e. change the tank valve.

Thanks

I have a "standard" reg on my Revo for the suit inflate, i.e. one at 90 degrees to the valve knob just as per a stage. Then there's more space for the first stage.

Only saying that as you might(?) have one hanging around and it'll make more space.

Always found those regs a pig to use when reaching back. The horizontal ones can be turned by your fingertips (once freed -- and serviced!). I can't do that with the vertical ones.

My suit and wing feed from an on board dil bottle filled with air. It is closed from the breathing loop. It is isolated with a shut off valve and a safety clip locking it closed.
If I want to dive the unit in a standard configuration, the valve gets locked in the other position. My on board bottles always have air and oxygen, nothing else.

MY BOV, MAV, ADV are plumbed into the offboard bailout tank. Choosing a gas for the dive is just decided by which BO I bring.

It wasn't done to save money on helium as it was still relatively affordable when I built it this way, it was meant for remote diving where helium isn't easy to get. I could get air fills for my onboard easily. I can do a week of normoxic or hypoxic diving on my AL80 bailout without issue.
Do you disable your ADV, maybe using a shut-off valve? (i.e. to prevent an air dil getting into the loop on a deep/helium dive)

Seems a good system as you will have an SPG to monitor the diluent cylinder (maybe even AI transmitters) which would be used for wing & suit until shallower when -- one assumes -- you do a full loop flush at a suitable deco stop (21m/70ft ?) to clear the helium from the loop and replace it with nitrox. Both wing and suit inflate could be replaced with a deco gas tail should the air diluent not be available.

What sort of unit do you use for this -- all including backmount, or just sidemount CCR?

Other question: how long are your QC6 tails (to connect the BOV) on your bailouts?

The on board bottle is not connected to my breathing loop. It is a two step process to connect it. ADV, BOV, and MAV are all fed from offboard. Depending on the dive, I will change gases for deco to clear helium.
This is on my backmount Optima.
My QC6 leads are 22" on my bailouts.

I use a 6cuft bottle for suit inflation and my wing is connected to my diluent.
