Pull dumps are IMO unecessary, they put stress on the bladder and the elbow, neither of which is good and add additional failure points with no real benefits.

Pull dump inflators are bad ju ju.......

I have one but frankly I never use it since I have two pull dumps on the bottom of my wing. It really has been years since I used it last.

On my BC the bladder is electronically welded to the plastic mount the hose screws onto so I agree with the others ^ - crack the mount and I'm buying a new bladder.

I have pull dump on all my bc(three) since 1996. They were rarely used(the first two) and from time to time it leaked for whatever reason so I have to look after it regularly. When I bought my third bc(BP/W), I immediately replaced the pull dump with a plain elbow so one less thing to service and worry.

I primarily use the pull dump. Like to keep my hands in front of me. Especially when carrying a camera in the right hand. Make small adjustments with essentially no body movement. To each their own. I also have it serviced and checked each year.

I also have two shot rotator cuffs so while I can reach the other dumps it is not my favorite motion. Same with reaching my tank valve. Doable but I will be sore for a while after.

I remove all of those pull thingies and tie a simple double knot in the string. My primary dump is at the bottom of my wing, I rarely use the corrugated hose as a dump so no need to have an extra dump there. N

The pull dumps on the inflator hose are a very poor design IMO. That's about the worst spot to have a big leak in the BC, unless one prefers being upside down to retain any air in the bladder. And encouraging divers to yank on a very weak rubber hose is not exactly intelligent engineering.

Pull dumps do have their place like Steve C said. For small "burps" of gas they are useful. That being said I also agree with the above posters regarding their design. If you use one care must be taken to not pull too hard on the dump and diligence in service is necessary. In addition you should possess the skill to be able to dump from your wing using all of the other methods available(venting from the power inflator and the various dumps on the wing).

I personally have a pull dump on my single tank wing...it does come in handy for those little burps of gas as I ascend the line. I really only use it for that purpose.
