I bought one of the early series Maximus regs on the basis that I like the standard Sherwood Magnum (early 1990's) so much that the Maximus must be great! It wasn't so much, in fact I thought the Magnum breathed easier and smoother so a year or two later I sold it.
If I was buying new today I would get a Magnum Pro rather than a Maximus, the Magnum has a balanced second stage and if it is technology handed down from the SR2 then it should breath very nicely- but I don't know if that is the case and have not heard any first hand feedback on these yet.
PS. Current pricing for these on LP is VERY competitive!
