I am travelling to Indonesia in a few days. Last month I went to a travel clinic and consulted with a physician. I received prescriptions for afflictions that may develop--ear infection, sinus congestion and chest cough.

Should these be listed on the declaration form? I'm a little wary listing these items in the same section that references narcotics, weapons..........

Any recent experience with this issue?

Hell, NO!!! You'd be opening a can of worms.
Just make sure you have your written physician prescriptions with you, preferably next to your bottles/pills.
I've been traveling to Singapore and Indonesia twice/three times ayear for the last 15 years with all sorts of prescriptions (either for actual illness, i'm taking 5 pills a day currently or just in case, like antibiotics, eardrops, etc.) never ever got asked about that.
In the worst case they'll ask you what it is for or why you didn't declare, you just say you were not aware you had to declare them since it's covered with a physician prescription.

They stopped me in Manado once and checked my meds for illegal narcotics. I had metformin in a prescription container. Cut a piece of a tab and did the cocaine in a bag blue test thing. Obviously was negative and let me go.

I spoke to an Indonesian guy who worked at customs for many years subsequently. The written Rx (who gets those these days anyway?) won’t make any difference. If they suspect you, they’re going to test regardless of what your piece of paper purports to tell them it is.

A prescription written in a foreign country has no meaning in another country.
Completely irresponsible comment.
That's the problem with the Internet with people who have little knowledge of both medicine and law, but can't help dropping nonsense here and there instead of informing on serious issues.

For your education, this is coming from the consular services of the Indonesian embassy in the US :
  1. Bring medicine to Indonesia
How is the rule of bringing medications for self-consumption to Indonesia?
Someone traveling to Indonesia and he/her brings medications must:
    • bring a letter from the doctor which explains the drug’s substance, prescription & dosage
    • have the same name written on the prescription and on the boarding pass
    • be used for personal purposes
    • not exceed fairness limit
    • be packed in the original place/wrap
The document does not need legalization from the Embassy.
    Note :
The Indonesian Customs has the authority to determine whether the said medications can be used in Indonesia.

LOL.
Does not apply to ALL countries.
Medtication containing controlled ingrediants MUST be declared FIRST eg. Malaysia. Not declaring it in the first place and the subsequent discovery by the authority is different story. FORGOTTEN is NOT an acceptable excuse.

If I need any advice on law in a foreign country, I will look it up directly at that particular country's regulation instead of listening to any irresponsible answer on line or social media.
