can anyone recommend an online picture presentation (i mean not just a common name with a link to a picture, that may take forever) of tropical/sub-tropical fish? i'm trying to identify some lil' guys that showed up in RI in due to the gulf stream that i saw the other night. im kicking myself for not bringing my camera

You can try www.fishbase.org too. It's very comprehensive but the fotos aren't always great.

You're almost certain to be getting a lot of juveniles that far north. Remember to check both the adult and juvenile forms when you're browsing pictures. The colour patterns are often quite different.
