One year ago today I signed up on SB. I found it by chance while searching the internet looking for answers I had to a question about some dive sites someone was interested in taking me to. I received an overwhelming amount of responses. As a result, I have been doing a lot of diving ever since with people I have met on this board and divebuddy.com. I had 25 total dives (that included the dives needed for OW and Cavern) on Sept. 30, 2007, and as of today, Sept. 30, 2008, I have 207 dives under my belt. I'd have more, but sometimes I have to work, and other times the weather doesn't cooperate....LOL.

Anyway, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you for being such a great community where a new diver can come for support and information and stay for the fun and continued camaraderie. I have learned so much from so many of you, and have made many friends and dive buddies through this board. I hope to dive with many more of you as time goes by.

I just signed up to do my divemaster training, as I want to continue my training to be a better and safer diver to myself and others I'm in the water with. (Yeah, yeah....it's really to get free dives, but it sounds better to say it's for improvement....lol).

All this just because I happened to find SB when I had a burning question. This has been the most joyous year of my life; diving and making new friends (and gaining weight from the after dive "dives"), and having a place to come to for information or just laughs. Thank you, everyone! :kiss2::kiss2::kiss2:

Wow, I'm jealous! 182 dives in one year....I'm really hoping for 100, but that's just amazing! I would second the SB sentiment. This is definitely a great place to learn, meet people, and keep diving! :D

Amazing, 182 dives in one year! I was doing a little mental math after a couple of very pleasant dives last weekend and figured that with work, the band & kids sports etc I'd be lucky if I can get in 35 to 40 dives a year. I better start buying Lotto tickets!:D

I'd definitely agree that SB is a great place to hang out - in the short time I've been here I've come across a great group of people and learned a lot.

WHAT?, no gripes? - You're right, Scubaboard is a friendly community, even if you're flamed, it's with good intentions. Thanks for the cheerful post, and you're forgiven for rubbing it in that the rest of aren't diving as often as we'd like.

Best wishes on your next 200! dF

;) You caught that little rub, eh? LOL. Yeah, even getting flamed can be fun, if you can take it (and give it) with an open mind and turn it into fun bantering without intending to hurt anyone. Even the few times when someone starts a threat where hurting someone IS intentional, it opens the door for conversation to clear the air and straighten out misconceptions.

Happy Anniversary JM!! That's great that you were able to do so many dives. I'm sure we'll be diving together before your two year SB mark :)

I sure hope so!! I'm hoping to make the ITK this year (last year I was on a liveaboard). I think it's working out the same way this year, so I might forego the liveaboard if I have to make a choice.

Happy Anniversary JM. The first SB Anniversary is GOLD right? My maximum is about 108 in one year so WOW at your count. That is great. I joined SB a little while ago but stopped coming on for a bit....stupid me (as I kick my own butt). Now people just wish I would stop logging on :rofl3:

Jupitermermaid - Happy Anniversary!!! 182 dives in a year, you are my hero! IMHO, skip the liveaboard and go to ITK. I'm trying to get a group of NY divers to join me at ITK next year. C'mon, it'll be fun, you won't regret it!
