There has been some excellent diving over the past week at Byron Bays Julian Rocks. With great surface conditions most days and with vis sometimes well over 20m+ and water temp around the 21c.
The most exciting part has been the huge schools of Baitfish which have been hanging around the area for the past few weeks. Slowly and surely the schools have been reduced in numbers by the "Locals". Large number of Wobbegongs, huge schools of Snapper and jewfish, GNS in large numbers, big school of Batfish and pickhandle Barracuda's mid water.
At one point I manage to be in a middle of the baitfish when a feeding frenzy started with everything getting into the action including the GNS.
Here are a few pics/videos from one of the best weeks I diving I have had at Julian Rocks:
5 fat Wobbies siting on a rock
GNS under the bait school........taken at 10mm so he's real close
The big Jewfish
Looks like it was taken at night but its due to the the thick school of baitfish above
GNS slowly crusing through the Baitfish
Roger in the background
Dive bombing GNS
Peek a boo GNS
Sometimes Stills just simply can not do the dive justice:
Here are some links from this weeks videos just to show everyone how much actions was going on:
