It wasn't me that added the poll question. Must have been someone else ..and they'll talk soon ....or we'll ...
only kidding ..
Of course this would be in the Trips section of the boards. And be ready there will be many more new things coming because there is still room on this web site for more.
I understand people in general do not like change. But change is how we all grow.

Natasha is right!

What we have to remember is ScubaBoard is a forever growing community and for a growing community needs space so people can "put there feet up".

I feel it would be beneficial...whether that be tomorrow or further down the line.

I think its a case of as my mum would say "We'll see!" ;)

I didn't do the editing but, the Travel section is located at

Scuba Source Travel

I would be happy to add any trip reports that any of you would like to submit for inclusion. If you have photos, send me those also. The text and photos should be sent to ladydiver@home.com.

Be sure to include a short by-line so people can get an idea of the background of the person making the report.

Hehe Who did this editing anyway ?? ;)

Anyway no problem with it...but...I still believe that we need a new forum here for travel reports only....

It is different to have it here with the board infrastructure and the existing community than have it in an impersonal site...

Anyway I believe that a forum like that will further enchance the community spitit and discussions...

I can't speak for others, but when the board is fragmented I rarely even open most of the fragments and some I've never opened. I know I miss many good posts because of this, but frankly having to go into different fragments is a PITA. I like this board and it's spirit. I can't help but think the spirit and sense of community would be even higher if it weren't so fragmented. Right now we have 35 fragments. Am I the only member who things that might be overdoing it a tad? Wouldn't 6 fragments serve as well while not fragmenting us as much? I'd suggest only having the following fragments: General, Equipment, Medical, Tek, Travel and Site Support. Do we really need a separate fragment for Fins? or for Mexico? (Mexico is part of North America BTW) I think we really went overboard with 35 fragments. We certainly don't need 36. This is a fine board, but I think everyone could get more out of it if it weren't so fragmented.

You make a valid point - some areas of the board I rarely look into - mainly cause they arent used as much.

When I go into most forums, they have 2 or 3 sections and everything looks all over the place. This forum gives new divers, and new people to the forum a chance to search the area of their interest without having to sieve through information they already know or arent interested in. Which is why ScubaBoard decided to put in sections like Tech Talk so technical divers don't have to sieve through recreational diver chat to get to the stuff they're interested in.

There are advantages and disadvantages of having more sections - but when it comes down to it - if your interested in finding out about fins....you'd go to the fin section - if your not interested - you wont go! And to have that section is an advantage to you even if you dont want to know about it, cause it means you dont waste time sieve through it if its in Basic Scuba Discussions.

Sorry - that turned out to be longer than planned! :rolleyes:

If that is the reasonning for the fragment then I have a couple of suggestions for topic:

in the equipment area lets make a field for;
weight belt buckles, strap wrappers, mask defoggers, pony bottle pressure gauges and weight stoppers.

in travel we need fields for;
(one field for every state/country that has water)

I know that these are some really off the wall topics but the point is that walter does have a point(one that I agree with). we have more than enough fields already, lets use what we have instead of making more.

I think it's become too fragmented as well. Keep it simple. The search function works just fine to find specific things. Most of the time when I come on the board, I just click the "View new posts" to see whats new since the last time I was logged on and really don't even look at what forum group the post came out of, just the thread's subject.

Just to make sure....these are reasons which I feel are valid - not the reasons that LD and KN came to the conclusion of to produce the new divisions.

I agree with Walter, that you can spread the board too thin. I think the board is best left how it is....I think we have the perfect combination of divisions and members for them at the moment !
