I know there are a lot of CCV regulars on this board, so please give me your opinion. Assuming price is no object, how do you compare the cabanas, bungalows and beach houses? Convenience? Comfort? Any difference in service? We would either put 2 couples in 1 beach house, or get two separate rooms.

Also, how are the conditions in October/November? Any more or less rainy or buggy? How is visibility? Yeah, I know it's hurricane season, that's a risk I've already factored in. Thanks for your input! Sue

Cabanas and bungalows are out over the reef on posts. They are no more than 2 minutes to the dive op or dining hall.

The Beach Houses are up to a five minute walk away, bicycles are furnished for a 1 minute trip at most. You can walk around them and out onto the sun decks pretty much so naked, scream and holler, and no one could care less.

No.

Here's a better forum of such CCV Rooming type discussions: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/mb/ccv?forum=25270

It's towards the end of the Caribbean Huricane season, which is the Bay Islands rainy season.

Any more or less rainy or buggy?

Yes, more rainy. No, less bugs.

How is visibility?

Depends on how recent the rain was. Probably the worst you might find all year long.

Yeah, I know it's hurricane season, that's a risk I've already factored in.

Maybe not. Again- I say... it is the RAINY season. Huricanes seldom bother the Bay Islands. Bet on rain, not huricanes.

Thanks for your input! Sue

Go to CCV to dive... A LOT. 5x a day is easy.

Herman and I were at CCV during Hurricane Wilma.

Because of the runoff there was no visibility at the front yard. You could see the mud slick going out.

Anyhow, thats just an execuse to go back this MAy.

I was at FI end of october this year (sorry guys, I'm still working on my trip review:D ) and the weather was great! Out of 7 days, only one rained during the day, and it was short lasted. mainly, it rained at night and early morning! Vis was great... 80-100 feet every day (one day was a bit worse, at 60').

Maybe we were lucky, but I'd go back in October anyday!!!

Hope this helps!

My wife and I stayed at Cocoview during the holidays. We had a chance to stay the first week in the Cabanas, the last two days in the rooms, and visited one of the beach houses. I would say hands down we prefered the cabanas. They are spacious, comfortable, a nice wood panel interior and have private decks.

The ac rooms tend to be small and cramped, but the bathrooms have better water pressure. It was a bit of a shock going from a cabana to a room.

There are several different beach houses all owned by different people. They have private beaches and are pretty spacious. One draw back is that there is no glass in the windows, only screens and shutters. When the wind blows it can get quite noisy and drafty. Also, they are a bit far from the resort. They provide bicycles, so it's not too bad, unless, you have a few drinks and try and peddle back!

My husband and I have been to CCV twice, we stayed both times in the over the water Bungalows and they were great!! Over the water a quick 30 second walk to the dive boats and dining hall, but far enough away to make you feel like you were secluded...Some of the people in our dive group stayed at Beach House 10 which was nice, but no AC and it was a schlep to the beach house. It made it hard to run back for a forgotten item, quick bathroom trip...Now they are nice and our group had a great time, but I would definatley choose the bungalows if I had a choice. Where ever you stay you will have a wonderful trip and don't worry....Just Dive...
Enjoy!!

I preferred the cabana... comfortable on the inside, and as someone mentioned, a private deck. In the cabana, one could enjoy the intimate privacy in a hammock with a nice view straight out to the ocean.

The bungalows were nice, but they were a bit too close to the dining hall for my liking and they did NOT have a private deck.

I didn't venture down to the Beach Houses... too busy eating, sleeping, and diving! :D

Thanks for all of the input! Maximum diving is the key decision factor, which is why we're looking at CCV. After that, the rest of the decisions are just icing on the cake.
