isn't OMS based up in the northeast? While I hate to stereotype, I live/work in Texas, but in my job take inbound calls from all over the US, and by Texas standards, many callers from the northeastern US are very short/abrupt, they sound 'rude' by local Texas standards...and I always have my guard up as soon as I see their address on their accounts populate on my computer screen, because I know how they typically 'roll'.......so maybe there is a chance you're getting a typical 'northeastern' attitude ? They just aren't 'warm 'an fuzzy' up there and I try not to take it personally, it's what I expect from that area of the country, they can't help it.

Well, in Northeast fashion I just gave them attitude in return then eventually sold-off all equipment with a OMS label. Their market share has been on a slow but steady decline. In case I miss there demise, Hasta la vista OMS...:mooner:

I'll have to search around to see who carries OMS in my area.

You don't say where your area is, but give Adirondack Scuba a call. Randi and John do a lot of business with OMS and are good folks to work with.

Thanks, but I've come to the conclusion spending the extra time/effort to purchase a product, which the manufacturer obviously doesn't want me to buy, is slow-witted and proof of a mental defect on my part.

So, I will either cut & sew the originals, or put another manufacturers on. Then again, I may just go Hogarthian and delete them all together.

BTW, I've been holding my breath for a return call from OMS. The first few times I held until I passed out. The longer I wait by the phone, the the better my breath-holding times are!

The way I see it, I probably should thank OMS as by the time they actually call me back, I will be prepared to set a free dive world record. :blinking:

I found a really nice BIG FAT Sharpie in the garage. Time to modify the shoulder pads, fanny pack, back plate, and the wing. I just need to figure out how to do the SPG. Any ideas?

Stereotyping the "northeast" attitude might be a little broad. Living in the northeast I don't see the attitude you are refering, to here in UPSTATE NY. The attitude you are referring to IMHO may be more of a New York City type of thing. OKAY, I know I am stereotyping.

I'm northeast. Stereotype away, we can take it. But I have to admit that it really hurts to see OMS go the way of Scuba Pro with respect to customer contact. Have any of you market specialist wizards been looking at the economy lately? When things loosen up I plan to forgive but not forget. You will have to earn me back, same as SP -you have proven that you are no better.

Not being the type to defend any company other than my own, I have to ask why you would expect OMS or any manufacturer for that matter, to sell directly to you? First clue, they don't list prices on their website. Like alot of manufacturers they have distributors and dealer (LDS) who do that for them.

No excuse for the attitude though, because it only takes a minute to direct you to their nearest LDS or online retailer.

The internet is part of the problem. Many companies are so used to customers doing their own homework that if you ask them to research a part, you're an inconvenience.

OP, like you said...just go HOG harness. One you have it properly adjusted and dive it a few times, you'll probably be glad ya did.

As a native New Yorker, let me say that we'd love to be polite, but we just don't have the time to wait for some Texan or Upstater to take 10 minutes to say what we can say in 2. Get on with it and get over it, okay?

:joke:

well, when I get a call from 'up there' I do try to hurry up and get it over with ASAP, the sooner 'we' finish the sooner I can likely get to a 'warmer' call, I'm pretty good at donning whatever 'personality' cloak I need to handle whoever, so I can speak 'New York-ese'. :)
