Hi again,
(I tried posting this but it didn't appear, so I am re writing it. If it shows up on another topic, sorry for the redundancy)

I am pondering on the OMS Comfort harness with back pad accessory and SS plate. It looks a lot like the IQ but the plate is attached.
I like the IQ harness but I am concerned about tank shifting from the slip in plate.

I am also looking at the 45 lb single bladder w/ bungee.

Does anyone out there use this system and do you think the comfort harness is a good choice?

Also, I have seen websites using Dive Rite harnesses with non Dive Rite plates and BC's. Is it ok to interchange?

opinions are greatly appreciated.

I don't think anyone has experience on the new comfort harness yet. I asked LP yesterday and they told me to check back after a month. I also have the same concern with the I-CU with shifting of the backplate. Can someone share the experience?
Another question is can we use other backplate (S&W Metal) with the OMS I-CU?
Thanks.

The comfort harness looks nice, but I don't understand why your concern of the tank shifting??? The tank cam bands can run through the plate or use a STA. It sort of looks like a glorified backplate and harness setup. As far as the 45 pound banded wing, I would buy the non banded wing. Why, because I had a bungeed wing and when I went to the non bungeed wing I noticed less drag underwater. I also did not like the placement of the dump valve on the bungeed wing, makes it harder to get all the air out. The OMS 45# non banded wing has the dump valve almost centered on the back of the wing. Try looking at the Oxycheq wings, my friend has one and she loves it.

Hi ColdH2odiving,

I didn't know you could run the tank cam bands through the plate on the IQ backpack. (The one with the built in pad)
I thought the tank bands attached to the pad and the plate just slipped in between the pad.

I knew you could on the comfort harness though.

Thanks for the info.

Hello -

In general you can swap harnesses, wings, BPs around between manufacturers. The only thing is if you need slots for cam bands. I have DR, Halcyon, and Oxycheq wings/BPs that I mix and match.

I roll my own harnesses, but the attachment points are identical.

Wrek,

On the later version IQ PAK (w/o attached wt pockets) you could dive it with or without a backplate. OMS just came out with their new backplate, it can be used with or w/o a STA.
