Has anyone ever been diving with an Omaya Reservoir?? I'm having mine removed in several months but just curious. I will consult my neurologist before diving with it.

Hi CincyBengalsFan,

Provided that the device is operating properly and contains no air spaces (it shouldn't), it would not in and of itself be a contraindication to scuba.

Of course, the condition for which it was implanted & the medications administered via the port would have to considered in the decision to dive.

I've seen it spelled both ways at the hospital, on my bill, and on the internet. It was installed for chemo but the last treatment with it is tomorrow July 22. I'm pretty excited. It will still be a few months before I can dive but it will also be several months before they remove it.

Thanks for the spelling correction and further proof you have shown me on how to spell ommaya. I'll be sure to come back here for more medical info.

Best Regards

Cincy

You're more than welcome. Spelling can be mighty important in medicine.

Please do drop in any time.

Best regards.
