Oman - Muscat

Hello to all divers,

I am new to this board and might not have used the search function correctly.

I am going to Oman – Muscat later this year and like to know if anyone has experiences with the ocean boats diving centre (I could not post an URL because I do not have 5 posts) ?
I found two threads where the name of the diving centre appeared, but no experience with the diving centre where given.

PS: I pretty much decided to dive with the ocean boats diving team, just want to make sure that I made the right decission.

Whoever you go with, ask them to take you to the Damayanat Islands, it takes 40 to 60 minutes to go there from Muscat but it is IMO the best diving in Oman. At any rate, that is what where I did my favorite dives when I spent one week holidays there. The visibility was much better than around Muscat, the coral fantastic and there were more fish and turtles too !
If I was to to back, I would probably choose to stay at the report which is almost opposite these islands, 10-15 minutes away from them, and dive there every day.

No knowledge of dive clubs in Oman (we only snorkel) but for the Damanyates it will help to seek out the club that operates from the beach adjacent to the airport. This minimises the distance to the islands. It's a long flog from the capital area, and even from the adjacent base it's about an hour, not 15 mins!

We're going out on 19th Dec for a week at the Oman Dive Centre and another week at Khasab in the Musandam. If anyone has latest news on the algal bloom problem v.grateful for updates. Don't know if it's offshore as far as the Damanyates. If not it may be that the islands are the only place to go right now.
