if you want to attach the adapter to the ZEN port you can easily fit some velcro on the port to eliminate the less than 1mm gap from the regular Olympus port diameter, you can see some pics I posted some time ago.

Olympus UFL-2 Strobe Review | wex photographic
why its power goes down in FP mode:... is because it has to burst many flashes to communicate properly for the fast shutter sync. Not sure about the details of that and some other flashes can do that but the timings to achieve up to 1/4000 of a second are probably not so trivial.
Regarding 1 UFL2 vs. 2 other minor strobes: I think 2 strobes offer you more flexibility and creativity...
