Hello Oly users!

I'm currently using an Oly SP350 with an Ikelite housing. Everytime I download, all photos are stored on my mac using the Olympus Master Storage. However, I have noticed that my mac's memory's dwindling down so I decided to copy the photos to DVDs. Now my question would be, do I need to delete the photos in my mac since I have a separate copy of the photos on dvd?

Much appreciate it to who replies to this query.:D

Yes you can delete those copied photos. That said, I would first make sure the DVD copies are readable. Not just on your computer, but on other computers. It would be wise to make a couple of copies and store them in different places. Remember that DVD media is not an archive level of storage. Those disks can go bad over time, especially if stored in a bad environment. An external hard drive would be another place to save images.

Finally, if you have been processing and saving those processed photos, check the folder you have saved those to. Saved processed photo files can be much larger than the source image files. This would be another pace to copy the images, then delete to make more room.

Delete them off your mac maybe but I would suggest before you do, have at least one more copy- I keep 3. A single copy of anything you want to ensuer you keep is not a good idea. DVDs are not fool proof, they can be scratched or otherwise made useless. Then there is the hassel of retrieving them. My suggestion is to use an external USB hard drive in addition to the DVDs. They are cheap, reasonably dependably and make retrival of photos a lot easier. I am assuming a MAC will support a USB drive.

Thanks gert7to3 and herman..I'll definitely make copies and get an external USB hard drive..my photos are result of hard work..I really want to preserve them.

Thanks again! :D
